Suleika and Marilyn, Bill Manhire

This poem is the English version by Bill Manhire of an original poem written for “A New Divan” by the Lebanese poet Abbas Beydoun, via a literal translation by Reem Ghanayem. The original poem was inspired by the book of Hafiz in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s “West-Eastern Divan” (published 1819).
